What Does the Lord Require?

Faithfully love and live

Micah 6:6-8 NKJV
With what shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the High God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old?
Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

My Father and my God,
I confess that there are times when I seek your acceptance and approval through the works that I do. Then, there are other times when I fear that I have lost your acceptance and approval because of the works that I do.
How I misunderstand grace.
My actions gain me no entrance into your presence or your Kingdom. My works earn me no favor or blessing from you. There is no gift I can bring you, nor any sacrifice I can make, which will cover my sins and make me right with you.
Jesus did that.
And I am grateful.
But how I live is important. You call me to a life that reflects you and the work of your Spirit within me.
So, help me to love others such that I will always seek what is right and just for the people around me.
Help me to love you with all my being such that every moment of every day I humbly follow your ways.
And, Lord, in these things help me to be faithful.
Amen.
