Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His.  And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.  He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him . . . There is a God in heaven who reveals secrets . . .


Almighty and Eternal God,
On this day when we remember the founding of the United States of America, our first concern is that “the earth be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea” (Habakkuk 2:14).
We pray for your church in the USA and in all the nations of the earth, that your people will be revived and will return to their “first love” of you.
We pray that across this land and around the world, all people will become aware of their spiritual poverty, will awaken to their great spiritual need, and will turn to you in repentance and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
We pray for righteous and competent leaders in the United States and the nations of the world; that godly men and women will be placed in positions of authority. May they fear you, Lord God, and not other people, and may they depart from all evil.
We pray for governments at all levels, that people will know the truth, will speak the truth, that error will be exposed, and that wicked agendas will be thwarted.
Give your church boldness to speak truth carefully and lovingly and avoid all negativity and fault-finding. May your church become known for being your loving, pure children.
May we never put our confidence in any political candidate or policy but may all of our confidence be in you.
We pray for your great power to overcome all enemies of truth and righteousness.
We pray that your Gospel will be proclaimed “from sea to shining sea,” looking forward to the day when “Jesus shall reign” on earth and his Kingdom will be spread “from shore to shore.”
Indeed, O Lord God, may your Kingdom come, and your will be done, in the United States of America and in all the nations and peoples of the world, to the praise and for the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
