Joy in the Morning

Come to Jesus

Psalm 30:1-5 NRSV
I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up, and did not let my foes rejoice over me. O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me. O Lord, you brought up my soul from Sheol, restored me to life from among those gone down to the Pit.  Sing praises to the Lord, O you his faithful ones, and give thanks to his holy name. For his anger is but for a moment; his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may linger for the night, but joy comes with the morning.

Lord Jesus, faithful Savior, Healer, and Friend,
I feel weak from the wounds of others and the ones I’ve inflicted on myself, but you “do not let my foes rejoice over me.”
Thank you, Jesus!
Even in these latter years, I stumble and mess up so often that I’m like a baby trying to learn to walk. But “I cry to you for help, and you heal me.”
Thank you, Jesus!
I feel all alone on this journey of life. I keep climbing steep challenges of relationships and vocation, of doubt and faith. No matter where I go, the way seems filled with darkness and pain. But through it all, you bring “up my soul from Sheol, and restore me to life.”
Thank you, Jesus!
I want to experience rest and security in you, Lord. I want to sense your favor and not your anger. I want to know the joy of morning instead of the weeping of night.
Help me, Jesus!
Amen.
