Look at the contrast here. My salvation comes in silently waiting for the LORD, God, the Almighty. He is my rock and I will not be greatly moved vs the lies, the oral blessings and curses of man.

But aan important point in in my waiting silently (patiently) upon Him. Not grumbling. I don't think that this is an instruction to remain silent so much as it is an urging to be moderate in our answers; carefully couching them in language that in honoring to our LORD and Master.

Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer.

From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah

For You, O God, have heard my vows; You have given me the heritage of those who fear Your name. You will prolong the king's life, His years as many generations. He shall abide before God forever. Oh, prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him! So I will sing praise to Your name forever, That I may daily perform my vows.

A Paean of Praise! If there ever was one. Read these precious 8 verses, each carefully crafted to acknowledge some aspect of the LORD, God, the Almighty, that glorifies Him. He is there for His own from the end of the earth to praising His Name forever.

God has spoken in His holiness: "I will rejoice; I will divide Shechem And measure out the Valley of Succoth. Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is the helmet for My head; Judah is My lawgiver. Moab is My washpot; Over Edom I will cast My shoe; Philistia, shout in triumph because of Me." Who will bring me to the strong city? Who will lead me to Edom? Is it not You, O God, who cast us off? And You, O God, who did not go out with our armies? Give us help from trouble, For the help of man is useless. Through God we will do valiantly, For it is He who shall tread down our enemies.

So we, like David, must come to realize that it is not the armies of man that defeat our enemies and bring the victory, it is through the LORD, God, the Almighty that we do valiantly. It is You, O, LORD, who treads down our enemies. You may use us to tread down our enemies, but it is through You and You alone that the victory is won.

I must be saturated by Your Word, soaked it from dawn to dark. All my waking moments, all my steps, all my decision, every aspect of my life must be under the guidance and control of the Holy Spirit.

Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, And save me from bloodthirsty men. For look, they lie in wait for my life; The mighty gather against me, Not formy transgression nor formy sin, O LORD. They run and prepare themselves through no fault of mine.Awake to help me, and behold!

There is a note of desperation in the introduction to this Psalm. David is feeling surrounded by his enemies and deserted by a sleeping LORD. But he, like we, find out that our LORD will never leave us nor forsake us. Our enemies are but a flick of the LORD, God, the Almighty's finger and POOF, GONE.

Break their teeth in their mouth, O God! Break out the fangs of the young lions, O LORD! Let them flow away as waters which run continually; When he bends his bow, Let his arrows be as if cut in pieces. Let them be like a snail which melts away as it goes, Like a stillborn child of a woman, that they may not see the sun.

Before your pots can feel the burning thorns, He shall take them away as with a whirlwind, As in His living and burning wrath. The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance; He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked, So that men will say, "Surely there is a reward for the righteous; Surely He is God who judges in the earth."

Surely there will be a reward for the righteous. It will be to spend forever in the presence of the Lord, God, the Almighty. It will forever serving as His steward; His original plan for me, See Genesis 2:19-20. The LORD, God, the Almighty's plan for His creation will be complete. EVERYTHING ! Everything from that first “Let there be” to the pronouncement of Genesis 1:31 that it was very good. Think about the smile which will accompany that statement. I can hear it!

The wicked are estranged from the womb; They go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies. Their poison is like the poison of a serpent; They are like the deaf cobra that stops its ear, Which will not heed the voice of charmers, Charming ever so skillfully.

We are estranged from the LORD, God, the Almighty from birth. We resist the Word of the LORD as if we were a snake, deaf to the voice of the charmer. We deny the wickedness of our hearts; we spread violence upon the face of the earth. There is no element of righteousness in our souls.

My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise. Awake, my glory! Awake, lute and harp! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise You, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing to You among the nations. For Your mercy reaches unto the heavens, And Your truth unto the clouds. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; Let Your glory be above all the earth.

This is beautiful. David is pouring out his heart and soul in glorifying the LORD, God, the Almighty. Oh, that I would be as moved to respond to the Shepherd Poet words in like fashion. Look at that last line: “Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; Let Your glory be above all the earth.” Does anything more need to be said, or even can it.
