A PRAYER FOR LENT

Lord God of infinite wisdom,
You who gives counsel to the person who diligently seeks you, you have promised:
“I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you” (Psalm 32:8).
I come today desiring to know you more intimately, so that I might love you more and more with all my heart and soul and mind and strength and follow you more faithfully.
I need your instruction; I need the counsel of your Spirit. I listen to your Word in order to gain knowledge; I pay attention to what you say in order to gain wisdom.
“Lead me in your truth, and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all day long” (Psalm 25:5).
