Psalm 105:7-11
He is the LORD our God; His judgments are in all the earth. He remembers His covenant forever, the word that He commanded, for a thousand generations, the covenant that He made with Abraham, His sworn promise to Isaac, which He confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant, saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan as your portion for an inheritance."
You chose me, Lord, before I was in my mother's womb, before I was a gleam in my father's eye, You knew me and knew my every thought, step and deed. Praise You, my Lord, for You love me and provide for me in spite of my sin and rebellion. You drew me to You, cleansed me from my sin, erased the spirit of rebellion and replaced it with Your Spirit. You set my feet on a wide place, secure in the knowledge that You are guiding my life in all things.
Praise You, my Lord and Master.
Psalm 105:12-25
When they were few in number, of little account, and sojourners in it, wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people, He allowed no one to oppress them; He rebuked kings on their account, saying, "Touch not my anointed ones, do my prophets no harm!" When He summoned a famine on the land and broke all supply of bread, He had sent a man ahead of them, Joseph, who was sold as a slave. His feet were hurt with fetters; his neck was put in a collar of iron; until what He had said came to pass, the word of the LORD tested him. The king sent and released him; the ruler of the peoples set him free; he made him lord of his house and ruler of all his possessions, to bind his princes at his pleasure and to teach his elders wisdom. Then Israel came to Egypt; Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham. And the LORD made His people very fruitful and made them stronger than their foes. He turned their hearts to hate His people, to deal craftily with His servants.
Lord, as I think back on my life, during that bleak period when I was not walking with you, even then Your hand was upon me. Your shield was around me. Your angels stood between me and the folly of my ways. You are faithful even when I am not.
And now, I see many of those instances when You intervened, and know that there are many more that I do not recognize. Thank You and praise You, my Lord and Savior. I cannot repay You for Your grace and mercy but I can show my love, appreciation, and gratitude by obeying You.
Psalm 105:26-38
He sent Moses, His servant, and Aaron, whom he had chosen. They performed His signs among them and miracles in the land of Ham. He sent darkness, and made the land dark; they did not rebel against His words. He turned their waters into blood and caused their fish to die. Their land swarmed with frogs, even in the chambers of their kings. He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, and gnats throughout their country. He gave them hail for rain, and fiery lightning bolts through their land. He struck down their vines and fig trees, and shattered the trees of their country. He spoke, and the locusts came, young locusts without number, which devoured all the vegetation in their land and ate up the fruit of their ground. He struck down all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of all their strength. Then he brought out Israel with silver and gold, and there was none among His tribes who stumbled. Egypt was glad when they departed, for dread of them had fallen upon it.
You redeemed me! You took me out of slavery to sin and brought me to life. It was You, my Lord Jesus the Christ, who paid the penalty for my sins and gave me freedom. You bear the scars of the nails, the sword and the lashes so that I am always reminded of Your willing sacrifice. I bear the scars of my past life so that I am always reminded of my desperate condition.
Praise You, my Lord and Savior.
Psalm 105:39-41
He spread a cloud for a covering, and fire to give light by night. They asked, and He brought quail, and gave them bread from heaven in abundance. He opened the rock, and water gushed out; it flowed through the desert like a river.
Amazing, simply amazing, Lord. Earlier this morning as I prayed over Psalm 119:36-37, You were showing me that I must incline my heart to Your testimonies and that I would receive life, that I was not to come to You for prosperity, but for life in Your name. And now, You follow it up with the assurance that all my needs have been arranged for and will be supplied at the proper time.
Psalm 105:42-45
For He remembered His holy promise, and Abraham, His servant. So He brought His people out with joy, His chosen ones with singing. And He gave them the lands of the nations, and they took possession of the fruit of the peoples' toil, that they might keep His statutes and observe His laws. Praise the LORD!
Lord, You have brought me out into a land of milk and honey, a land where Your word abounds and Your peace is the order of the day. To live all the rest of my days in Your kingdom, in Your presence, being lead and taught by Your Holy Spirit; that is a sweet foretaste of what is to come.
Praise You, my Lord and Master.
Exodus 20:1-2, 15
And God spoke all these words, saying, "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. ... "You shall not steal."
Your treasure is in heaven
where neither moth
nor rust destroys.
Therefore tend to other's
treasures with respect
and loving care.
Psalm 106:1-3
Praise the LORD! Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever! Who can utter the mighty deeds of the LORD, or declare all His praise? Blessed are they who observe justice, who do righteousness at all times!
Lord, the irresistible force -- Your love, the immovable object -- Your goodness; working together in harmony to restore wholeness to Your creation. And using me to be an agent of reconciliation by seeking justice and bringing righteousness to all. In this, I declare that You are the Almighty One and I offer praise to your Holy Name.
Psalm 106:4-5
Remember me, O LORD, when You show favor to Your people; help me when You save them, that I may look upon the prosperity of Your chosen ones, that I may rejoice in the gladness of Your nation, that I may glory with Your inheritance.
Lord, I need understanding of Your plan for my life, not the broad scope, but the small details for today. I need to see that next steps that I am to take, with the willingness to take those steps without comprehending the big picture; knowing that I am in Your hands. Help me, Lord, to have that complete faith in Your goodness that will enable me to go as You send me. As Abram was sent and went, so must I go and do! But only as You direct and lead!
Psalm 106:6-7
Both we and our fathers have sinned; we have committed iniquity; we have done wickedness. Our fathers, when they were in Egypt, did not consider Your wondrous works; they did not remember the abundance of Your steadfast love, but rebelled by the sea, at the Red Sea.
Lord, I am a work in process, an uncompleted disciple, still consumed with pride and lack of humility, still wrestling with an unwillingness to serve when called. Lord, strip me of my pride, even the pride that is a result of answering Your call. Help me, Lord, for there is no power within that is capable of transforming me save the power of Your Holy Spirit. Make me fit for the Kingdom.
Psalm 106:8-12
Yet He saved them for His name's sake, that He might make known His mighty power. He rebuked the Red Sea, and it became dry, and He led them through the deep as through a desert. So He saved them from the hand of the foe and redeemed them from the power of the enemy. And the waters covered their adversaries; not one of them was left. Then they believed His words; they sang His praise.
Lord, there are so many ways that Your glory is evident in my life. And so many that I don't even recognize or acknowledge. Red Sea crossings and the repelling of foes are easy to see, but when it is all the normal events of my life that flow smoothly; I forget to acknowledge that it is through Your hand, overseeing ALL things, that is responsible for a life well lived.
Psalm 106:13-18
But they soon forgot His works; they did not wait for His counsel. But they had a wanton craving in the wilderness, and put God to the test in the desert; He gave them what they asked, but sent a wasting disease among them. When men in the camp were jealous of Moses and Aaron, the holy one of the LORD, the earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram. Fire also broke out in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.
Lord, am I jealous of others and their gifts? Is this part of the problem that causes me to rebel against authority? Is some or all of my criticism of the leadership of the local churches fueled by jealously rather than sound application of Your word?
I come to You seeking revelation and transformation. Remove any spirit of jealously and replace it with Your spirit of love and servanthood.
Psalm 106:19-23
They made a calf in Horeb and worshiped a metal image. They exchanged the glory of God for the image of an ox that eats grass. They forgot God, their Savior, who had done great things in Egypt, wondrous works in the land of Ham, and awesome deeds by the Red Sea. Therefore He said He would destroy them-- had not Moses, His chosen one, stood in the breach before him, to turn away His wrath from destroying them.
Lord, You are that Stander in the Breach, foretold by Moses, to turn away the righteous wrath of the LORD from me; You stand between me and the consequence of sin; You are the one who bore the punishment that is rightfully mine; You are the Lamb of God. Praise You, my Lord Jesus the Christ.
I continue to plead that You will cause Your Holy Spirit to exercise my conscience, making me aware of those idols that I still hunger after, to remove those afflictions from me, and to fill me with the glory of Your presence.
