I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD. Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.

This has been a most beautiful Psalm as the writer focused upon the many evidences in the Creation around us of the love of beauty and sense of completeness that can only be attributed to a sentient being. Those hints of the interdependence of the various elements of the Creation are not, nor can they be tokens of happenstance. The LORD, God, the Almighty is a Creator God. He speaks and it is. And it reflects God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, the Triune God.

So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts. There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein. These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season. That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good. Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust. Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth. The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works. He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.

A continuation of the love of the LORD, God, the Almighty. For beauty and creativity, for order and completeness, for all that speaks of those attributes that are uniquely Him. He finds beauty in places where we can see only ugliness. We may see a crippled individual broken by sin, the LORD sees one of His own, badly broken by someone who should have loved rather than beaten, but indeed is a creature of high regard by Him.

He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down. Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth. The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God. The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens.   Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening. O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.

This Psalm continues to be a paean to the Creativity of our LORD, God, the Almighty. I’m beginning build a picture in my mind of the Creator God who paints the finest of detail with the broadest of brushes. I know, from my wood carving days, that if I didn’t have a picture in my mind of the finished piece, it never developed. And my carvings, at best were pretty crude. Now think of the infinite beauty of the Creation, of the gorgeous detail, of the tightly meshing of all the parts and pieces, the palate of colors from which He works. The list of the evidences of His love of beauty is endless.

He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills. They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst. By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches. He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works. He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth; And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart. The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted; Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house. The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies.

This is a delightful statement of the interdependence of the creation. A simple set, a few sentences which demonstrate the remarkable way in which all elements of the creation demonstrate a planned development that is totally at odds with the randomness of evolutionary theory.

The handiwork of the LORD, God, the Almighty, demonstrates a ‘correct from the beginning’ that is absolutely necessary for the creation of the universe where every part, parcel and piece has to fit with a beautiful divine click. The cattle came into being when God said, Let there be, and there was. And the grass was there to feed them—not a minute too soon or late.

Another point is that there has not been enough time for the try, test, and try again approach to do the job. If you consider evolution as a t, t, & t method, there is not enough time to test all the first order dependencies, let alone the dependencies upon dependencies upon dependencies that the real world displays. Wild asses need to have developed a complex order leading to reproduction while bees are working out their part in the pollination of grasses (I think they or some other mechanism must participate)

To demonstrate the rapid way in which complexity increases as a function the number of elements, consider the following. As a chef, my menu listed a total of 13 possible ingredients for the guests to chose their morning omelet from. Those 13 ingredients led to total number of omelets of 8,192 different omelets. Adding a 14th ingredients would double the number of omelets. Consider the complexity facing the ardent evolutionist?

VAU. Let thy mercies come also unto me, O LORD, even thy salvation, according to thy word. So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word. How many times have you heard Merry Christmas in the last 4 or so weeks? How many times have you heard “Joy to the World” or other precious Christmas carols sung in that period? Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty. Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind: Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire: Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever. Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains. At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away. They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.

A remarkable summary of the Flood, written about 3000 years ago and a couple of millennia after the event. There is some interesting research being done by the Institution for Creation Research (ICR) that ties the Flood to many of the geological phenomena which has been attributed in the past to eons of geological time. These studies are powerful confirmation of the Genesis record. Could it be that the Bible is correct when it reports that God said...and there was? I believe so!

He weakened my strength in the way; he shortened my days. I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations. Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed: But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end. The children of thy servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee.

Look at the contrast here. The Lord will shorten my days as He weakens my strength as I plead for lengthened days. Even the foundation of the earth and the heavens which He had laid are subject to His will. But He is the same, yesterday, today and forever.

There is a powerful promise in conclusion. We will continue before Him. Oh mighty Day!

This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD. For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth; To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death; To declare the name of the LORD in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem; When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.

“The people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.” Very interesting for the phrase implies that the present generation does not truly understand, maybe even is not capable of truly praising the LORD, maybe requires transformation. Not far off the mark! When was the last time that the LORD’s Day sermon elicited shouts of praise, cries of hallelujah? Don’t tell me that “we don’t behave that way in the XYZ denomination” You only prove my point.

When will we realize that we serve an awesome (a LORD, God, the Almighty who is worthy of AWE at every level) God. When, at the very mention of the Name, will we fall prostrate, weeping at our sinful nature and begging transformation. Yes, I know I am saved, but it is so weak a knowledge, so superficial—I need to hang my head in shame. THE LORD JESUS, THE CHRIST, THE SON OF GOD, BECAME A MAN, RECEIVED THE PUNISHMENT FOR MY SIN AND IS SEATED AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD INTERCEDING FOR ME. And I smile while giving the preacher a thumbs up as he mentions this. How cavalier! Not the poor preacher’s fault; he’s trying to get through to a very calloused soul.  I should be screaming "Praise the LORD!"

For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favor the dust thereof. So the heathen shall fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth thy glory. When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory. He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.

Isn’t that last sentence comforting? To know that the LORD, yes the LORD, God the Almighty, the great Triune God, the One who was, the One who has come, and the One who will come again, is here now to hear my prayers and pleadings. Moreover He does not despise my prayers; not as was often the case with one of my children—I was too busy to spend time listening to their childhood stories and needs.

Think about that! The One who controls ALL THINGS in the Creation has the time and patience to listen to my whimperings.

Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me. For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping, Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down. My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass. But thou, O LORD, shalt endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations. Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favor her, yea, the set time, is come.

The Day of the LORD is coming! Maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow, but it is coming. We rant and rail at those actions that offend us, but shouldn’t we be regarding these events as signs of the times and heralding the eminent return of our LORD for His people? Shouldn't we begin each day with a prayer that this day will be the day? End each day with a plea that He will come before I awake in the morning.  WOW! Fall asleep in Chester village and awake in the presence of the LORD, God, the Almighty.

HE. Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end. Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart. Isn’t this absolutely beautiful as Ish-Elhoim pleads for understanding; begging for the LORD to lead him in the way of righteousness. I need to print it out and post it where I will see and absorb it as I arise in the morning and the last at night.
