Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; Psalm 86:11-13

John Nunnikhoven

Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name. I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And I will glorify Your name forevermore. For great is Your mercy toward me, And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.

The key phrase here is “Teach me Your way, O LORD;” Without teaching from the LORD, all is in vain. I cannot walk in His truth, I won't even recognize it. How can my heart be united to Him? My praise is far more likely to be attempts to justify my miss-behavior. In short, without the guidance of the LORD, God, the Almighty, I have nothing to offer but a stench in His nostrils.
