Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the LORD.
If the steadfast love of the LORD never ceases (Lamentations 3:22) then what does this verse tell me about trust? I think it implies that my trust must be steadfast also. I am beginning to realize (slowly) that the concepts of belief, trust, faith, commitment, obedience are binary–that is they either do or do not exist.
The distraught father (Mark 9:24) did not cry "I believe, help my weak belief" but "I believe, help my unbelief." He recognized that his trust in the power of Jesus to heal his son was complete and sufficient.
LORD, help me with my unbelief.
