Psalms 19:1-4a

John Nunnikhoven

Continuing to examine the characteristics of the LORD, God the Almighty and as I learn to praise Him by acknowledging His worth, I have come to His utter incomprehensibility, His transcendence. A good jumping off point is to acknowledge what I can comprehend.

Psalms 19:1-4a

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.

LORD, I thought that this passage from the Psalms would be something which delineated my understanding. What hubris! I confess that I cannot begin to comprehend Your glory as revealed by the Creation. But it is sufficient to know that the Creation reveals You and as I search to understand it, I am coming infinitesimally closer to a full comprehension of Your glory and who You are.

Today's readings in the Psalms:
