The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Most High uttered his voice, hailstones and coals of fire. And he sent out his arrows and scattered them; he flashed forth lightnings and routed them. Then the channels of the sea were seen, and the foundations of the world were laid bare at your rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils.
That last phrase brings to mind the cartoons of old man winter and his wintry blasts, but when I scrolled through Google Images, all I found were malevolent and often salacious images. Where were drawings that brought to mind a benevolent LORD as this passage does?
Yes, often the blast of His nostrils is frightening, think of a tornado passing near your home. But upon reflection, even a mid-Western rip-roaring thunderstorm as a demonstration of our LORD's power should bring a sense of knowing that we have an omnipotent LORD. From time to time, He has to remind me that He is in control of all things.
