Maskil of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the words of my mouth! I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings from of old, things that we have heard and known, that our fathers have told us.
Oh, Lord, the things that we have known, that we learned at our mother's knee and from our father as he led his family. These are the understandings that guide and shape our lives today; they are the parables that reveal You to us, the foundations of Your Word that provide stability and structure in our lives today.
Thank you, Lord, for parents who recounted Your mighty works in their lives so that their children would know You. Lord, forgive us when we have not done that. Do not let our children suffer as a result of our sin.
