Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love, that he may deliver their soul from death and keep them alive in famine.
Lord, “hope” has a weak connotation to my modern ears, ears whose understanding has been polluted by the Enlightenment’s insistence on self-sufficiency. Help me to keep my heart focused on the hope that is a sure conviction that Your love is steadfast and that Your promise to never leave me nor forsake me is inviolable and unbreakable.
