Preserve me, O God, Psalms 16:1-2

John Nunnikhoven

A Michtam of David. Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust. O my soul, you have said to the LORD, "You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You."

Look at that last line, "You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You." No Little Jack Horner here, but a full realization that my sense of my goodness is squalor and filth apart from what has been and will be bestowed by the LORD.

It is no wonder David realizes that he must put his trust in the LORD, the giver of all that is rich and pleasant.
