The LORD is a jealous and avenging God; the LORD is avenging and wrathful; the LORD takes vengeance on his adversaries and keeps wrath for his enemies.
Hallelujah for the Cross of Christ stands between me and the jealous and avenging God. As the old Fanny Crosby hymn puts it:
Safe in the Arms of Jesus
Safe on His gentle Breast
There by His Love o'er-shaded
Sweetly my soul shall rest
