This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
This is a special differentiation between servant and friend. Perhaps equivalent to the employer/employee relationship of today's industrial world, but with an important distinction. My bosses knew that they were going to get feedback from me. It was part of my responsibility. The servant of that day was usually a slave. A friend would be more likely to fit the role of trusted advisor.
We are Jesus' friends, not slaves. But with an import modification; He has made all things known to us. No need for feedback, all things are known to His friends and therefore we should be as one with Him. We're all pulling in the same direction. (Or should be)
