I Peter 5:6-7

John Nunnikhoven

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Is not the act of humbling myself an act of contrition? Does not this passage reflect the truth and power of Psalms 51:17? “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” Is it not true that when I come to God, broken and weak, that He takes all those anxieties and worries that are pressing me down and takes the burden upon Himself? Of course it is true. Hallelujah
