Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall.
Peter is hammering in this throughout this passage on the theme of sticking to the task. Believing/trusting/committing/obeying is the foundation that enables me to concentrate on my calling and election, not getting distracted by problems that have been solved even if I don't know the answers.
