First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
This is a difficult but necessary teaching in these days marked by political turmoil and fierce division at every level of society. I am called to be in prayer for all who are in positions of authority; yes that I might lead a quiet and peaceful life, but… Far more important is my witness that will draw ALL PEOPLE to be saved, that will bring all to the knowledge of the truth.
