Realizing the presence, promise, and power of the Kingdom of God.

Psalm 128:2-6

You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you. Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the LORD. The LORD bless you from Zion! May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life! May you see your children's children! Peace be upon Israel!

Lord, I accept the promises of this Psalm, for You are the One who is the All Goodness. You will bring my children and my children's children into Your presence. I praise You and I thank You for Your generosity.

Psalm 119:9

How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.

What is it, Lord, to guard my way? Is it not to be vigilant in watching over every aspect of my life, to be persistent in all the details, to be fearless in self-examination and evaluation as I hold up my life to the coherent light of Your word? I have Your word before me, I have been imbued with a consuming desire to live according to Your word, and You have filled me with the Holy Spirit to guide me into that life. Thank You, Lord.

Psalm 119:10

With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments!

And the Commandment is: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."

Lord, You know how distracted I can get when a problem raises its head and I begin to focus on it rather than on You. And how I begin to imagine the worst and begin to devise solutions and worry. Lord, help me to place this problem in Your hands, fill my mind with Your peace, help me to remember that You are in control, complete control, that You allowed this , perhaps just to give me another lesson about relying on You. Cleanse my mind from all anxiety that I may focus on Your Goodness.

Psalm 129:1-4

A Song of Ascents. "Greatly have they afflicted me from my youth"--let Israel now say--"Greatly have they afflicted me from my youth, yet they have not prevailed against me. The plowers plowed upon my back; they made long their furrows." The LORD is righteous; He has cut the cords of the wicked.

Incredible. Lord, incredible. You stand between me and all the wiles of the Evil One. He assaults and he throws up his siege-works. He fires his flaming arrows and advances his catapults. But Your armor is sufficient, I am at peace, I am safe in the arms of my Shepherd

Psalm 129:5-8

May all who hate Zion be put to shame and turned backward! Let them be like the grass on the housetops, which withers before it grows up, with which the reaper does not fill his hand nor the binder of sheaves his arms, nor do those who pass by say, "The blessing of the LORD be upon you! We bless you in the name of the LORD!"

Lord, a most comforting Psalm that assures me that even though the agents of the Evil One attack and afflict me, they will not prevail but Your righteousness will. Thank You, my Lord and my Master for this assurance and for pointing out to me that Your blessings are not wasted upon those who defy and hate You.

Psalm 130:5-8

I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in His word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning. O Israel, hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love, and with Him is plentiful redemption. And He will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

Waiting for You, Lord, hoping for You; a hard lesson that demands that I sacrifice my will to Yours. The old nature in me demands action, that I do something, anything, but do something. The new man says, "Wait, wait for the Lord."

So, Lord, as the watchmen wait and watch for signs of morning, I am learning to watch for signs of Your presence in my life. I am learning to treasure those moments when I, through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, am able to curb my impatience and wait, wait, wait in the joy of Your presence. for it is there that there is steadfast love and plentiful redemption.

Psalm 119:17

Deal bountifully with your servant, that I may live and keep your word.

Deal bountifully with me, Lord, not in material but in spiritual wealth and health. The riches of this world are not the enablers of obedience; it is the Holy Spirit dwelling in me that leads me into all truth, that gently instructs me in the Way of Life. O Lord, give me more and more awareness of the Presence, of Your constant Presence in my life. Praise You, my Lord and my Master.

Psalm 130:1-4

A Song of Ascents. Out of the depths I cry to You, O LORD! O Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy! If You, O LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with You there is forgiveness, that You may be feared.

I could not stand before the Lord God Almighty under the weight of my iniquities. The crushing load of my sin exposed to the piercing glory, the perfect holiness, the flawless justice of Yahweh would crush me beyond description. But You, Lord, have paid the price, sealed my pardon, cleansed me and brought me into the Kingdom of God as a redeemed son.

May I never forget Your love, grace and mercy.

Psalm 119:18

Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of Your law.

You did show me a wondrous thing last night in Roy, a demoniac on Wednesday night, cursing and hostile to all; praising You and seeking You in Your word on Saturday night. Thank You for the transformation and healing.

Lord, continue to bless him and free him from the control of those evil spirits. Continue to protect him during the night from those dreams that ravage him. Hold him in the palm of Your hand, his name graven there as one of Your children.

Psalm 119:20

My soul is consumed with longing for Your rules at all times.

My soul is consumed, my soul is absorbed, my soul is engaged, my soul is engrossed, my soul is occupied with longing for Your commandments at all times. My soul yearns for Your Presence with a yearning that knows no bounds. I want to live completely and without reservation in Your Kingdom.

Psalm 131:1

A Song of Ascents. Of David. O LORD, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me.

Lord, help me discern where and when I am working in Your will versus my own ideas and ambitions. When is it Your vision or my self serving scheme? Keep me from the sin of self-directed ambition.

Psalm 131:2-3

But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me. O Israel, hope in the LORD from this time forth and forevermore.

Lord, it is a struggle for me to not occupy myself with things that are beyond my understanding. Why is it that the old man insists on the impossible and the unnecessary rather than sinking into the calm and quiet of Your presence? Why do I not simply accept and enjoy what the Holy Spirit has given me? Oh, Lord, that my hope would be in You and You only, from this time forth and forevermore.
