Jesus, Lover of My Soul

Psalm 130 NRSV
Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord.
2 Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications!
3 If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand?
4 But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered.
5 I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope;
6 my soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning, more than those who watch for the morning.
7 O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is great power to redeem.
8 It is he who will redeem Israel from all its iniquities.

You, O my God, are the God of steadfast love.
Your love reaches the depths of my fallenness.
Your love reaches the farthest range of my straying.
Though you are high and exalted, worshiped by the host of heaven, you stoop to my lowness and smallness and listen to my penitent cries.
The light of your forgiveness pierces the darkness of my iniquity, bringing reverential fear and worship welling up in my soul.
I praise you for your mercy that forgives.
I praise you for your mercy that redeems.
I praise you for your words of hopeful promise.
As your love is steadfast and sure, O Lord, fill me with a steadfast spirit that comes from a heart cleansed by your Spirit and filled with your Presence.
To the glory of Christ, my Lord.
Amen.
