God, the Rock of Salvation

Psalm 71:1-6 NKJV
In You, O Lord, I put my trust; Let me never be put to shame. Deliver me in Your righteousness and cause me to escape; incline Your ear to me and save me. Be my strong refuge, to which I may resort continually; You have given the commandment to save me, for You are my rock and my fortress. Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man. For You are my hope, O Lord God; You are my trust from my youth. By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb. My praise shall be continually of You.

Shame
That is what I feel, O Lord, left to myself and my devices. Thoughts and words and deeds join hands to show me my unrighteousness.

Refuge
This is what I need from you, Lord, safety from the howling storms. Storms of circumstance around me; storms of strong temptation in me; storms of life that, all-consuming, seek to drag me down.

Deliverer
This, too, is my cry to you, my God, my Father. Deliver me from those who seek to harm me, live to mock me, cause me grief. But I also need your aid because my greatest foe is me.

Hope
Hope that what’s ahead in life will come from God’s own providence. Hope that life’s confusing path will lead to true significance. Be my hope, I pray.

Trust
O Lord, I trust in you! Teach me how to trust you more! I do not lean on what I know but look to you where ‘ere I go. I take the path that you will show is good and right and true. (Provers 3:5-6)

Rock
You, my God, are my foundation. From you comes my sure salvation. On your promises forever I will build my life.

Lead Me to the Rock
