Aleph, Psalm 119:1-8

John Nunnikhoven

Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the LORD Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart, who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways!

You have commanded your precepts to be kept diligently. Oh that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes!

Then I shall not be put to shame, having my eyes fixed on all your commandments. I will praise you with an upright heart, when I learn your righteous rules. I will keep your statutes; do not utterly forsake me!

Lesson 1. We are commanded to keep the LORD, God, the Almighty’s precepts diligently. What’s a “precept”? How do I keep this diligently?

Precept—Alexa responds with “A rule or commandment for moral action”. Aha! My eyes are to be fixed (utterly attentive) upon the LORD, God, the Almighty’s commandments regarding my life as His representative. A tall order, indeed. And to be diligent in my pursuit of His Commandments. He is telling me that my #1 priority in life is know Him and His Word. NOTHING IS TO BE MORE IMPORTANT TO ME THAN TO BECOME CONVERSANT WITH HIS WORD!

I suspect that the Holy Spirit is going to provide more fuel for this fire in the coming days, but He has provided a very important ledge to jump from. I look forward to your reactions in the coming days as we process this leading together.
