Psalm 2:1-3 Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?

John Nunnikhoven

Psalm 2:1-3

Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.”

Why is it, Lord, that the world is in complete rebellion against You? Why do all deliberately defy You? So often it is the defiance of a small child who disobeys a parent solely for the sake of defiance; an act of self-will; a shouting of “I will be master of my fate.” Unwilling to accept Your righteousness; persisting in the tattered, soiled, putrid rags of self-determination; lost and destitute, yet trumpeting the Pyhrric victories of a self-destructive life.
