"You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet.
If my 'salt' (witness, testimony) is impure, my saltiness will leach out because of the influence of the world around me–there will be no value to my witness; it will be thrown out and disregarded by the world. I must be constantly alert to the danger that my life and my words are inconsistent with the Word of God.
