Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Lord, so difficult to leave it up to You. I want to jump in and give that rascal what he deserves. But You didn’t give me what I so justly deserved, You gave me love and forgiveness, You took my offenses upon Yourself and paid the penalty. Why can’t I do likewise for those who offend me? When will I learn that as You overcame evil with good, so must I.
