A Kingdom Catechism

We are called regularly to rest in and worship the Lord.

Q 75: What is the substance of the fourth commandment?

A 75: The substance of the fourth commandment is that God’s people are to preserve special days and seasons of rest and worship before Him. (Ex. 31.12-14; Acts 20.7; Rev. 1.10)

The Sabbath provides the template for all other seasons of rest and worship that God might require of, prescribe, or permit for His people. By devoting ourselves to the purposes of the Sabbath, and participating faithfully in it, we draw closer to the Lord and realize more of His purpose and promise for our lives, and we thus prepare ourselves, soul and body, for other seasons of rest and worship, as the Lord leads.
