Psalm 86:1-5

John Nunnikhoven

Psalm 86:1-5

A Prayer of David. Incline your ear, O LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. Preserve my life, for I am godly; save your servant, who trusts in you–you are my God. Be gracious to me, O Lord, for to you do I cry all the day. Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.

Lord, I am going through a period of hurt feelings and wounded pride, afflicted with a desire for recognition for who I am and for what I can contribute, a sense that I am not appreciated. Help me, Lord, to be concerned only for You, for Your glory and honor, not my own. Forgive me for allowing my ego to direct my attempts at ministry, restore me, O God and let your face shine that I may be saved.
