A Perfect Sacrifice

Hebrews 9:24-28 NRSV
For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made by human hands, a mere copy of the true one, but he entered into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf. Nor was it to offer himself again and again, as the high priest enters the Holy Place year after year with blood that is not his own; for then he would have had to suffer again and again since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the age to remove sin by the sacrifice of himself. And just as it is appointed for mortals to die once, and after that the judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.

Lord Jesus Christ, my Savior and my King, You are with God the Father at this very moment as my advocate, presenting your precious blood on my behalf for my forgiveness.
Thank you, Lord Jesus!
Once for all – once for all people, once for all time – you have atoned for our sins by your death on the cross.
Praise you, Lord Jesus!
There will come a day when I stand face to face with you and the Father, either at my earthly death or at your glorious return. Thank you that I need not fear that day because, despite what I have been, you by your sacrificial death and bounteous grace have made me acceptable. By your grace, I can look forward to joining “earth’s martyred saints and blood-washed overcomers” and “walk with you in white” eternally.
Hallelujah!
Amen.

WHEN HE SHALL COME
Alameda Pearce

When He shall come resplendent in His Glory,
To take His own from out this vale of night,
O may I know the joy at His appearing,
Only at morn to walk with Him in white.

When I shall stand within the court of Heaven
Where white robed pilgrims pass before my sight,
Earth’s martyred saints and blood washed overcomers
These then are they who walk with Him in white.

When He shall call from earth’s remotest corners
All who have stood triumphant in His might,
O to be worthy then to stand beside them
And in that morn to walk with Him in white.
