Seventh Sunday of Easter
1 John 5:9–13 (NRSV)
If we receive human testimony, the testimony of God is greater; for this is the testimony of God that he has testified to his Son. Those who believe in the Son of God have the testimony in their hearts. Those who do not believe in God have made him a liar by not believing in the testimony that God has given concerning his Son. And this is the testimony: God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
We believe!
Lord Jesus Christ, we believe!
Your Spirit has graced us with the faith to receive the truth from the Father that you are the One through whom he gives eternal life.
Lord Jesus Christ, we believe in you! With our minds, Lord, we understand the testimony of the Father – through the Word written and Incarnate – that you have atoned for our sin. We have faith that this testimony from the Father is true.
Lord Jesus Christ, we believe in you with all our hearts! We receive and embrace the love you have shown to us, for “no one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life” (John 15:13 NRSV) as you did for us.
Lord Jesus Christ, we believe that you are the Son of God and that we have received life to the full – both now and forever – through you, our Savior and Lord.
Praise you, Lord Jesus!
