Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sinand righteousness and judgment:concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
Conviction of sin in the world and belief in the LORD, God the Almighty, are linked; there is no disconnect/off switch. You cannot have one without the other. I cannot truly believe in the Lord Jesus, the Christ, without being convicted of my sinful state. And once I am convicted of my own deplorable and sinful state I am inexorably led to the Cross and His sacrifice as the only solution. (See Martin Luther as an example)
